Last night, Walking the Bypass: Notes on Place from the Side of the Road won a Saskatchewan Book Award. It had been nominated for two awards–the City of Regina Award and the Nonfiction Award–and I ended up taking home the latter. Thanks to everyone at the Saskatchewan Book Awards–the executive director, the board, and the juries–and congratulations to all the other winners and the nominees. Saskatchewan writers and publishers deserve to be recognized; for a place with a small population, we create so many wonderful books.
